Question for Beck:
Is there a specific song, lyric, or music genre that is particularly meaningful and moving for you—perhaps in a way you didn’t expect? What is it, and how has it had an impact?
Beck's Response:
I love music. I have a bachelor’s degree in music therapy, so I know well the power music has to move, heal, and connect us. Music is a big part of my life whether making music, listening to music, or going to live concerts. I love almost every genre except country (sorry to all the country music fans), however the music that has been most meaningful to me recently is worship music. I start my mornings with worship as a way to center myself and ground my day in my faith. It’s deeply encouraging and gives me strength, speaks to my soul and creates a space where I can connect with God. No matter the season, worship music has consistently spoken to my life. I can’t count the number of times a song has given voice to exactly what I’m feeling or what I need to hear at that moment. It reminds me daily that God meets me right where I am and is a steady anchor in my life.
