What We Do

CFC Backbeats

We are a dynamic community without borders and aim to be in consistent communication and connection with one another. We have four essential “backbeats” of our community:

(1) Retention Retreats

These are in-person gatherings where community members working in the nonprofit industry and a few “wildcards” come together for a few hours to collaborate on internal organizational challenges we are facing, all with a student-mindset and a posture towards active listening.

(2) Zoom Sessions

We regularly hold calls over Zoom with groups of 15 to 30 people to be in each other’s company and discuss different topics. Past topics have included internalization of information, competition within community, finding joy, and having a mindset of abundance versus scarcity.

(3) Soaking and Advancing Dinners

These are dinner comprised of different groups of 20 people or so with the only goal of “soaking” in one another’s presence and “advancing” connections within the CFC, as well as initiate and cultivate new relationships….all over a good meal, usually at our favorite restaurant in Midtown, PS Kitchen.

(4) CFC Writing Circle

We send out one “60-second thought” blog post every week via email to the CFC. Blog contributors cover a wide variety of topics, such as gratitude, life lessons learned, vulnerability in the workplace, mental models, and grace-filled takes on current events and global news.
