A Backbeat of Community
Happy Tuesday! And happy first day of fall With the Autumn Equinox here, I felt it was a fitting time to pause, reflect, and notice what's being carried into a new season. Below are four quotes from our community that made me stop and think. They're from past Tuesday Spotlight notes. I hope they may offer something meaningful to you, too.

"The people and communities I prioritize, make time for, and consistently show up for increase in durability over time. While that may seem obvious, truly recognizing it changed my perspective.... I have come to believe that trust is the key that unlocks a deeper connection. I believe shared experiences become the lock that holds relationships together, and every now and then life hands you a difficult pill to swallow that reveals who truly matters....Today, I think of success less as what I have built and more as who I have built it with. I think a well-lived life is measured not only by achievements but the quality of the relationships that surround me."
- Peter Espersen
"I no longer believe in before and after, just a long, continually updated now. I experience my life like a held breath or a sustained note or the longest wave. I am unconcerned with my legacy because it is all a matter of levels; zoom out far enough and I do not exist, zoom in close enough and I am all that can be seen. Not just in the end, but in the beginning and in the now and in the forever, failures and joy are just a matter of resolution."
- Matt Wallaert
"What is unexpected are the moments of happiness you can find amid the saddest moments of your life. Have you ever seen someone laugh—and I mean really laugh—in the wake of a funeral? Or standing in the kitchen, finally home after days pacing a waiting room? Or even mid-fight? All the grief, all the anger, all the….the fear dissipates instantly because something harmlessly humorous got you laughing again. Those are the moments where happiness can’t help but escape, making happiness not something I have to seek, but something I can’t help but come back to."
- Charlotte Hall
"Sadly, Edgar passed away unexpectedly last spring. I attended his funeral and learned from his daughter that his favorite quote was, 'Don’t let your circumstances dictate your joy.' With that philosophy, he encouraged his family to 'stand upon their circumstances with joy.' I love that visual. I felt this in his presence. This life lesson has stayed with me as I continue to look for the light and the joy in difficult times."
