A Backbeat of Community
I always enjoy revisiting the Spotlights throughout the year—it’s a great way to refresh my memory on the short yet powerful stories you’ve all shared. While going through them, I pulled out a handful of quotes to highlight. I’ve also included the link below to the full Spotlight library on the CFC website!

"The importance of music and motion is a major part of my creative process - and Grateful Dead music just plain makes me feel alive, good, and connected with something bigger than myself."
- Eric Hopkins
"I realized that true giving comes without arbitration, expectation, or judgment. It is an act best done without overthinking or reasoning, as introducing process or planning can strip away the selflessness and satisfaction that make the act so meaningful."
- Neeru Garg
"And it was in these moments that I would realise, in a whooshing surge of clarity, that not only was I ‘in nature’ at that very moment, and that nature was doing its very best to heal me, but that I was nature – I was part of this ecosystem like everything else. I depended on everything around me, and they, in turn, depended on me."
- Eve Hepburn
"In that simple touch, the canoe became a teacher. It exuded a warmth and calm that seemed to transcend time, carrying with it the spirit of generations who had lived and traveled the oceans. It felt as though it absorbed my nervous energy, grounding me in a way that can only be described as discharging the static electricity of modern life."
- Steph Jacobs
"Soaking in JOY as the sun went down, I was reminded of how centering joy and gratitude continue to ground me each day when I focus my attention on them. I was also reminded that it's always a good idea to say yes to a little adventure."
- Julie Sorenson
